ʻĀINA in Schools Chef Demonstration

April 23, 2016

ʻĀINA In Schools is a program of the Kokua Hawaii Foundation. The program is a farm to school initiative that connects children to their local land, waters, and food to grow a healthier Hawaiʻi. It centers around six components: Garden-based learning, nutrition education, family and community outreach, waste reduction, agricultural literacy, and healthy food on campus. As part of the nutritional education component Chef Andrea was asked to give a healthy cooking demonstration to kids in Laie Elementary School. For more information about AINA In Schools or the Kokua Hawaii Foundation please visit https://kokuahawaiifoundation.org/aina.

Mercy for Animals Vegan Chef Showdown

November 10, 2012

Eight chefs from Chicago battled it out for the coveted title "Best Vegan Chef" with dishes featuring Upton's savory seitan. A panel of judges and hungry attendees ultimately awarded Andrea DuBois (then Andrea Cataldo)- who made scrumptious Chinese dumplings in lemongrass broth with cabbage slaw and lotus root chips - first place and the grand prize.

The second annual Chicago Vegan Chef Showdown was a huge success, highlighting local chefs' talents, promoting delectable vegan cuisine, and raising vital funds for MFA's lifesaving efforts to expose and end cruelty to farmed animals.
